Red lips are beautiful all year around and there are so many different variations on the classic red lip that everyone can rock it, I think that's why the red lip trend will forever be in style! I decided to do a little round up of my favourite deeper, more autumn/winter appropriate reds to let you know my favourites and where you can find the shade you may have been looking for - a sort of 5 in 1 review :) Let's get to it.
NARS Red Lizard, Bite Beauty Zivoli, NARS Cruella, NYX Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary, Rimmel Kate Moss Matte 107.
Cruella is a stunning deep brick red, very matte long lasting shade. I love wearing this in the colder weather with quite nude eyes. It's definitely dark enough to be eye catching but in my opinion, it's a good dark colour for everyday too! This does dry the lips out a little but it's nothing a bit of lip balm before application wont solve and it does bleed either. An overall beautiful colour!
Rimmel Kate Moss 107
This is one of the newest additions to my darker lips obsession but it's so raved about on the internet how could I not try it out? This is more of a satin than a matte in my opinion, so comfortable and vivid and smells amazing too! The price of this is amazing considering the quality!
NARS Red Lizard
The Semi-Matte range from NARS is one of the best formulas out there for bolds and darks as far as I'm concerned! Comfortable and long lasting, an unusual combination! It's so nicely pigmented and is very old hollywood, it's a little more of a true red than the previous two, it's a lovely classic autumn shade!
Bite Beauty Zivoli
This one isn't matte, but that kind of works in it's favour. The formulation of Bite Beauty Creme Lipsticks is stunning, they are mad pigmented but still moisturising and the shades are so nice! This one is a bit more of a pain to wear because it does move but the colour really is worth the extra few tweaks in the mirror.
NYX Matte Bloody Mary
The least expensive lipstick of this post but by no means cheap quality. The NYX Matte range is comfortable and lasts pretty well on the lips! I love this colour because it's a happy medium between a deep brick red like the others and an orange red. It's bold and deep at the same time. Very much a 1950's, Marilyn-esque red!
So that's that! I love these sort of shades, they suit a lot of different skin tones and have a really chic and sophisticated feel to them. Don't you think?
